Tips and tricks for preparation
Congrats on booking your session!
The best thing you can do to ensure a great headshot is show up feeling great. So before you go taking any of this as gospel, know that many clients ignore all of this and end up with incredible headshots. Wear things that you love and resonate your brand.
Next on the list of importance, show up well rested and hydrated. My retoucher is world class and is going to take care of any blemishes, so don’t stress yourself out if you wake up with a surprise zit. You’ve hired the right photographer, rest assured you’re going to get some great images!
Tips for men
Put some love into your grooming the night before, eyebrows, hair, and beard.
If you’d like to shoot some with a 5 O’clock shadow and then shave for a cleaner look, feel free to bring your trimmers!
For the clothing, bring as many different looks as you’d like to try on! Wear stuff that matches your personal brand, but also give yourself some variety! Avoid very busy patterns and neon colors, we want the focus of the image to be on you!
Anything from a T-shirt to a 3 piece suit looks great, keep your options open by bringing plenty of choices.
Tips for women
If possible, I recommend having your makeup and hair professionally done. It’s not necessary, but your hair and make up artist is going to be able to assist in a ton of subtle ways to make you look your best.
For clothing and jewelry, keep in mind that we want the focus of the image to be on you! Avoid busy patterns, neon colors, or flashy jewelry unless that’s a part of your personal brand.
Bring plenty of options too! Layers are a great way to add variety to your choices.
